Many of you are seeking ways to increase your productivity and profits. I deal with this same issue regularly myself and find our new and existing clients do the same. I have found most of us fall into 1 of 3 buckets:
- You’re either making too little money or none at all. Many of us are stuck in a hole trying to find a way out. Some people with this issue have experienced a degree of success in their lives. But for whatever reason they’re stuck.
- You’re having some degree of success, but you are struggling to scale your business.
- Or perhaps you’re laboring in the salt mines of your business making a living….knowing you need a better way. You have a business that is working. It’s paying the bills and going OK. However, you need a solution to produce more.
If you follow the 3 steps I outline below, you will develop a simple system that measures what is important and productive.
You will avoid the “gray matter,” meaning you’re working hard and accomplishing little. You’ll develop a plan to get out of the hole by eliminating negative thoughts and self-pity. Naturally, you will discover flaws in your life and business with a quick solution to easily fix them.
Here’s the Simple Mindset Formula
Do this every day for 21 days. It will become a positive habit.
Step 1: Start your day by sitting quietly for 10 minutes.
For the first 5 minutes, close your eyes, relax and focus on the positive things you are grateful for in your life. Even if it’s just having food and a roof over your head.
You can’t think about two things at the same time so if you focus on what you are grateful for, it’s impossible to think negative thoughts at the same time. Say Thank You after each one.
During the next 5 minutes, read aloud your goals. Keep them simple.
The goal/mission statement needs to be SMART.
Don’t focus on money or the end result. Focus on what you are going to do to achieve the result.
For Example: By July 1, I will have 20 new clients, which I will obtain from my website with Google and Facebook marketing to provide income from teaching my skill rather than daily labor.
You see how this mission statement is a SMART Plan? If you do this simple exercise every morning without exception, you will experience a mind shift.
Step 2: Create a daily and weekly task list.
You can even create a monthly or quarterly task sheet to help with your master plan.You likely will find you need to adjust your plan as you discover more productive paths.
The task sheet will include your daily tasks, how much time each task will take and list each task by priority.
As you implement this step, you will find your SMART Plan from Step 1 will take definite shape. The result will be discovering what has been preventing you from getting out of the hole or why you haven’t been able to scale your business.
Step 3: The Pomodoro Technique.
This technique is where you start putting your plan in action. You may search online for more information about this time management system. But simply, it’s a system where you work for 25 minutes at a time with 5 minute breaks in a set of 4 followed by a 30 minute break, then start over.
The key is to implement with a timer. You can search Online Stopwatch or use the timer on your Smartphone.
Set your timer for 25 minutes, then get to work. Stop when the alarm goes off, then take a 5 minute break.
Do this 4 times, then take a 30 minute break.
An interesting thing happens when you implement this plan followed by Steps 1 and 2. You’ll have a plan for moving forward. You’ll immediately realize whether what you’re doing has value or not. You’ll naturally have a way to measure your time.
